METEC Southeast Asia 2025 is one of the most important meeting places for the international metallurgy industry. From 17–19 September, industry professionals gathered in Bangkok to present the latest developments and discuss the future of the industry. Three inspiring days marked by exchange, innovation, and valuable discussions – and cunova was right in the middle of it.
As part of the German Pavilion, our team welcomed numerous visitors from across the region and beyond. The exhibition provided a valuable platform to strengthen international partnerships, discuss current industry topics, and present our latest developments in mould technology.
Our Innovations in Focus
At the centre of our exhibition stand were our proven mould tubes – particularly the WAVE®, Textured and CV Cooling designs – as well as our latest mould plate innovation, the Cu+ Mould Plate. All of them represent advanced solutions for efficient and reliable continuous casting processes. At a glance:
WAVE® Mould – Developed to optimise the continuous casting process, the WAVE mould enhances strand guidance and billet quality. Its innovative design reduces typical casting defects such as diagonal distortion or snaking and increases service lifetime.
Textured Mould – Through a defined surface texture in the meniscus area, the heat transfer is intentionally reduced. The result: optimised shell formation, minimal or no diagonal distortion, and extended mould lifetime.
CV Cooling Design – An external structure creates turbulence in the cooling water to increase heat transfer. This allows the casting speed to be increased by up to 10%.
Cu+ Platte – The Cu+ mould plate is our latest plate innovation with integrated variable cooling technology. It ensures optimal cooling throughout all operating phases and ensures consistently high casting quality. Compared to standard plates, the Cu+ plate offers up to 50% longer service lifetime, reduced downtime and lower costs per tonne of steel.
Exchange and Insights
Our colleagues Tom Beyer, Head of Sales Mould Tubes & Specials, and Daniel Kellermeier, Head of Sales Mould Plates, held numerous technical discussions and presented the advantages of our products in detail. At the same time, the team gained valuable insights into the current challenges and priorities of the regional market. The conversations made it clear that the demand for efficient, high-quality and sustainable mould technologies in the region continues to grow – especially for solutions that combine operational reliability with economic benefits.
We look back on three intensive days filled with valuable contacts, inspiring discussions and an open exchange with international customers and partners. We take home many new impulses and look forward to further developing our technologies together.
